Alleged murderer/kidnaper/thief Jose Valentin Rivera was arrested this week after an anonymous caller gave detectives a tip on his whereabouts. The caller read about Rivera's alleged crimes in a June 8 News story and told cops the suspect could be found on Menahan St. near Cypress Ave. The caller also gave a partial license plate for Rivera's Oldsmobile. Rivera is accused of holding three Greenpoint family members hostage in March of last year. He and an accomplice allegedly held them in their home for three hours before robbing the house. The hostages were then forced to drive to a store they owned, which was also robbed, police said. Rivera was also wanted in Massachusetts on murder, robbery and drug charges.
